I hardly blogs, and have always used the online blogger functionality. But this time I had a huge blog to write with too many images to take care of. So online functionality was being a slightly PITA in terms of managing and being more presentable.
Had to go for offline blog writing, searched online a little bit, and finalized Windows Live Writer(WLW) to be my mate, as many people have been praising about it.
But but but. Configuring it with blogspot(blogger) turned out to be even bigger PITA. Googled a lot, found following 2 helpful posts :

But I kept getting the message: The user name or password is incorrect. Please try again.
This obviously was not the case, as have verified the credentials many times.
SOLUTION
Disable the 2-Step Verification in your google account. After disabling it, WLW worked fine as described in above blogs. So immediately wrote this post, as to be my first blog with WLW.

For me it turned out to be a feature of the account preventing me from connecting to blogger using less secure apps (WLW). I documented my solution here Using Blogger.com Blogs on Windows Live in 2014. Posting it here as this is the first result I ended up at when I was trying to solve the issue :)
