Packed the bags and had our last buffer breakfast. Check out from the resort on time as we were eagerly waiting to begin our long road trip.
But the luck had something else for us, may be to make me realize my mistake of Day 1. Innova got cancelled. We were outside the resort, already checked out, but no where to go. What bad could have happen now? The tout has shown its true colors.
After a long heated argument for the carelessness and unreliability of the tout, we ended up with another Innova 2500 bucks costlier. This experience gave me a good lesson, that touts go any length to monetize the urgency of tourists. I had a cheaper backup(another innova) but it needed 6 hours more to wait.
Anyways, started the road trip on a bad note hoping to get compensated with good memories further in the trip. Left Kovalam at 12pm and reached Rameshwaram at 8pm. It took long because driver drove economically and once lost the way in Tuticorin. We had to guide him using GPS in our cell phones. Simply GPS technology is a blessing for travellers. Doesn’t let you get lost.
We had already made a phone booking at Harish hotel, walking distance from main mandir, and had couple of backup hotels, so didn’t find any difficulty in finding the night stay. Hotel staff informed us that main pooja of Rameshwaram happens early morning and queue begins at 4am. So we had an early sleep as soon as we had our dinner. Market closes around 8:30. Ananda Bhawan, good place to eat.
